Birdsville Sewer Network Improvement Project
- Council: Diamantina Shire Council
- Fund: Remote and Indigenous Communities Fund
- Category: Water/Sewerage/Waste Infrastructure
- Round: 3
This project will upgrade various sections of the Birdsville sewer network above the main sewer pump station in the caravan park to increase capacity and cater for future growth.
Increasing the capacity of the sewer reticulation system will enable it to cope with the annual influx of tourists attending major events such as the Birdsville Races and Big Red Bash, expand accommodation facilities and public amenities available for the growing number of tourists and cater for the future growth of the town including the connection of the industrial estate.
This essential upgrade will improve environmental outcomes by alleviating the failing of pipes as a result of ageing and extreme temperatures.
