Infrastructure

Our department leads the development of infrastructure policy, planning and investment prioritisation for the state. The government is delivering a coordinated and integrated approach to infrastructure that will build industry confidence and generate jobs and economic growth, as well as improve liveability. The department also leads infrastructure planning and delivery for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The functions, staff, assets, resources, expertise and capability of Building Queensland are now integrated into our department. Combining Building Queensland’s expert knowledge and capabilities in infrastructure proposal development with the existing infrastructure planning and strategy functions of our department will support good investment decisions and optimise long-term infrastructure outcomes.

The Paradise Dam Improvement Project is now managed by the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water.

State infrastructure planning

The Queensland Government has developed the State Infrastructure Strategy which sets out a 20-year vision for infrastructure.

The strategy will be supported by seven Regional Infrastructure Plans and the Queensland Government Infrastructure Pipeline.

Regional Infrastructure Plans

Our department will progressively release seven regional infrastructure plans to support the State Infrastructure Strategy (SIS) which sets out the 20-year vision for infrastructure for Queensland.

Regional infrastructure plans are key deliverables of the State Infrastructure Strategy and use a more place-based approach to better align infrastructure planning and investment with the unique priorities of each region. These plans are being developed in consultation with regional stakeholders and will be progressively released from 2022 to 2024.

Future Infrastructure: Private Investment

How and where investment in infrastructure is directed plays an important role in the liveability of our communities and success of our regions as they transition to a new and decarbonised economy. The Future Infrastructure: Private Investment discussion paper helps shape our view on priorities and opportunities for private investment in infrastructure in Queensland.

Queensland Government infrastructure governance

Investing in the right infrastructure at the right time underpins economic growth and social outcomes, supports jobs and creates long-term prosperity for all Queenslanders.

Infrastructure planning and policy

The department provides infrastructure leadership in Queensland through a whole-of-government approach to the planning, investment, delivery and management of infrastructure.

Business Case Development Framework

The Business Case Development Framework ensures a consistent and rigorous approach to proposal development, enabling decision-makers to compare investment opportunities.

Local government infrastructure
